Biography

Margarida Prates is a portuguese pianist, who develops her career in Portugal and abroad, presenting herself as a soloist and as a chamber musician.
Her performances have been aclaimed over the world.

Born in Lisbon, Margarida Prates graduated in Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa. She then proceeded her piano studies in Italy where she attended Fausto Zadra’s piano masterclasses at Scuola Internazionale di Pianoforte, in Rome. In 2014 she started studying with Aquiles Delle Vigne at Academia Internacional de Música in Coimbra, Portugal, where she received the “Artist Diploma” in 2016.


Margarida Prates took part in several piano competitions, winning several prizes at Jugend Musiziert Wettbewerb, Concurso Internacional do Estoril/Portugal, Corso-Concorso de Brescia/Italia, Tournoi Internacional de Musique, Paris.

She works as a solo pianist, presenting herself all over Portugal and abroad. Her concerts have been often broadcasted by the portuguese radio.

 

She is also very interested about chamber music, paying special attention to the repertoire for piano and flute. 


Besides her piano career, Margarida Prates is interested in musicological research,which lead her to produce and realize educative radio programs for the Portuguese Broadcast Channel from 2008 to 2022.
